Coastal Walks:

The stretches of coast unfurling from Bude to the northeast, and southwest, deeper into Cornwall, are designated areas of outstanding natural beauty. Following the South West Coast Path in either direction will provide rugged scenery. Where the rolling hills of Cornwall and Devon meet the sea, lofty cliffs tower over glinting seas, and cinematic views await.

Fancy an excursion to a secluded island? Not everyone knows, but off the North Cornwall and Devon coasts, is Lundy, famous for its puffin colony. This pretty island is a must for wildlife watchers and nature enthusiasts. Boat tickets can be booked at the tourist information office in Bude.

National Cycle Network:

Higher Dux is lucky enough to have The Ruby Way right on its doorstep.

The Ruby Way, the backbone of Ruby Country, is a cycle, walkway and horse path from Hatherleigh via Holsworthy to Bude and is part of the National Cycle Network.

Restaurants:

We have 2 pubs within walking distance – The Bridge Inn in Bridgerule and The Molesworth Arms in Pyworthy.

The Bridge Inn (EX22 7EJ) in Bridgerule is a proper local pub 01288 321674. It is open every evening during the week and lunchtimes and evenings at the weekend.  Unfortunately, they do not serve food but if you would like to experience a proper local farming pub, you will be sure to receive a warm welcome from Pam, the Landlady, and lots of locals.

The Molesworth Arms (EX22 6SU) is a very special pub run by Kit and Monique 01409 259966.  The pub, beer garden and food are beautiful.  You will need to book in advance as they get very booked up.  moleswortharmspyworthy.co.uk.  Please have a look at the website for menus and opening days/times.  The Molesworth Arms does not allow dogs as they have a visiting cat that rules the roost!

Both pubs are a 30-minute walk in opposite directions (2-minute drive).  Mention you are staying at Dux Farm and you should get an even warmer welcome (either that or be asked to settle our tab 😊)

During the Summer, the restaurants (especially in Bude)  get very booked up.  We would recommend that you book your tables in advance. For an extensive list please visit Places to Eat | Bude | Restaurant | Bisto | Pub | VisitBude where you can also specify if you want dog-friendly, family-friendly, sea view etc.
